There is only one word to some up Stix and that is Legend.
I signed for Leeds from Crewe when I was 23. I’d only ever played for Crewe up until that point so for me I really was out of my comfort zone. Stix was one of the main people to really go out of his way to make me feel welcome. From booking hotels, helping me find somewhere to live and basically just being on the end of the phone 24/7 to make sure everything was ok. I also remember him being one of the first people to help me realise what it meant to play for Leeds United! He talked with such passion, honesty and love about the club! It was not just his job it was his life & I could tell that straight away.
He was often bombarded (usually by me!) the day before & on match day for tickets and hospitality for players & their families, he would be rushing round like a lunatic to make sure everybody got what they were asking for so that all the players felt no pressure and could just concentrate on the game. I can talk from personal experience that he also took the time to make sure all players families had the best experience on match day usually starting with a smile and a big hug! Leeds United is an amazing club and played a massive part in my life, so I know how lucky Stix has been to be a part of that club for so long but on the same hand Leeds United have been just as fortunate to have him too!
Whenever I think of Leeds, Stix is one of the next things that comes into my head. He is Leeds United. He was the heart and sole of the place! On a daily basis he would be at the training ground interacting with players and staff and everybody loved him! He would make everybody laugh without fail, or that could of just been the daft ties he used to wear!!
So to sum everything up that I’ve said about Stix the only thing Left to say is he 1 million percent was a massive part of my Leeds Utd experience and Im happy to say I gained a friend for life.
I wish him and his family all the very best.
Thanks for everything Stix
Luke Murphy.
