With the new West Stand development now under way, I wonder whether Chis will also be replaced as part of the redevelopment?

MIKE WHITWELL it is.
Mike spent nine years progressing through the Leeds Academy, featuring regularly as a centre-forward for both the Under-18s and Reserve sides.
During pre-season in 2009, Mike was given an opportunity with the first team and got himself on the scoresheet in a 3-3 draw against York City.
le also scored against Arsenal Jnder-18s in September 2009.
Mike left Leeds during the 2009/10 season, along with several other second-year apprentices, and later continued his career in semiprofessional football.
I hope your keeping well Mike.

Another archive backroom shot from 2005/06
Steve & Aidan Richardson (pictured), along with Kerri (mum), travelled all the way from the USA to visit Leeds United.
The least I could do was introduce them to our very own Eddie Lewis, especially after their incredible commitment to supporting Leeds United from so far away.
Look at the little one’s face (that’s what its all about).
Eddie was absolutely delighted to meet them and have a good chat.
Great memories, great people – and for me, this was what it was all about.
Helping our supporters make memories and feel part of the Leeds United family.

Remembering Paul Madeley — “Mr Rolls Royce”
Today, September 20th, would have been the 81st birthday of one of the true legends of Leeds United, Paul Madeley.
Born on September 20th, 1944, Paul sadly passed away on July 23rd, 2018, aged 73.
Paul spent an incredible 17 years with Leeds United, from 1963 to 1980, making over 700 appearances for our club. His versatility was simply remarkable — he played in every outfield position during his career, never once playing in goal.
Don Revie famously described him as “Mr Rolls Royce”, a wonderful reflection of the class and elegance Paul brought to the pitch. His former teammate Johnny Giles went even further, describing him as “seven top-class players in one.”
Paul also represented England 24 times, but for Leeds supporters he will always be remembered as one of the finest and most dependable players ever to wear the famous white shirt.
A true Leeds United great, whose name and legacy will never be forgotten.
Happy Birthday, Paul. Forever a Leeds legend.

19 September 2000 — 26 years ago today.
Leeds United 1–0 AC Milan
UEFA Champions League, Group H
Elland Road | Attendance: 35,398
One of those unforgettable European nights under the Elland Road floodlights.
With the game heading towards a draw, Lee Bowyer struck in the 88th minute from around 30 yards. The wet conditions played their part as Milan goalkeeper Dida couldn’t hold the shot, and somehow the ball found its way over the line.
Cue absolute bedlam! 
Managed by David O’Leary, we’d suffered a heavy 4–0 defeat away to Barcelona in our opening group game. This famous victory over Milan changed the mood completely and helped set us on our way to that memorable European campaign.
But for me, there’s another memory from that night that has stayed with me all these years.
Part of my role at the time was looking after visiting European teams when they were at Elland Road.
At Milan’s training session the previous evening, I did something I wouldn’t normally do. I asked the great Paolo Maldini if, after the game, I could have his autograph for my daughter, who absolutely idolised him.
He simply said, “Certainly.”
After the game on the Tuesday night, we were all absolutely ecstatic. The result had taken over everything, and I’d completely forgotten about my little request from the night before.
But Paolo Maldini hadn’t.
As gracious in defeat as he was throughout his incredible career, the great man came looking for me.
He remembered his promise.
That, for me, is the memory behind the memory.
A famous Leeds United victory, a magical European night… and a wonderful gesture from one of football’s true gentlemen.
Thank you, Paolo. I never forgot it.

The club went for a “tasteful but cheeky” approach, with several players taking part in staged glamour-style shots, mixing humour with a healthy dose of self-awareness.Some fans loved the light-hearted side of it, while others thought it was a little cringeworthy — especially with Leeds sitting mid-table in the Championship at the time! 
I’ve got a number of unofficial and behind-the-scenes photos from this period and will share more whenever I come across them.
Some talented players in this one, including the late, great Sol Bamba in the middle.

Following on from the post I did the day before yesterday on the news section, this little story came to mind.
During that brilliant Elliot Bransby event, a gentleman (Steven), stopped me and said that, going back to around our Champions League days, he had attended one of my infamous stadium talks.
When the talk had finished, he asked if he could have a photograph with me.
His words were something along the lines of… “I’ve still got it and I’ll send you a copy.”
Well… here it is.
Apparently, it was probably taken so he could put it by the front door and scare off any potential burglars! § S
Fair play to him — he actually kept it all these years!
A brilliant little trip down memory lane and another reminder of some great times around Elland Road.
Don’t laugh…it is 26years ago.

Archive Sunday 19th September 1999:
Funny how I can remember the exact date but for the life of me I can’t remember where these two (father and son, I believe) came from.
The one thing I do remember is that they had travelled a great distance to be at Elland Road for the match. They’d certainly been on one of my infamous matchday stadium talks!
So, here’s my question… are you still out there? Is it you? If you know who they are, please get in touch. It would be fantastic to catch up after all these years.
By the way, it was a 2-0 home win against Middlesbrough, with goals from Michael Bridges and Harry Kewell.
That result should help narrow down the date for fellow Leeds fans, and hopefully someone recognises the father and son !!!

“The room has remained remarkably familiar over the decades. Aside from cosmetic updates to the décor, furniture, computers and other modern office equipment, it has retained much of its original layout and character—a fitting reflection of Elland Road’s rich history.
Within these four walls, countless decisions have been made by both managers and owners, shared moments of laughter have echoed through the room, and more than a few bollockings have been handed out along the way. It’s a space that has witnessed the highs, the lows, and so much of Leeds United’s story.

Archive picture from the 2010/11 pre-season photo shoot. At first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a hospital ward rather than a football club, with all those players on crutches. A pre-season Leeds fans would rather forget !!!!!!

Don Revie’s 1954–55 England international shirt was stolen from the main reception at Elland Road after a Sunday morning stadium tour. The thief returned later to steal what they clearly saw as a “souvenir.”
The shirt was priceless. It came from the 1954–55 season, when Don was voted Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year while playing for Manchester City F.C.. It was also the season he broke into the England national football team, earning his first international caps and scoring four goals in six appearances.
Months later, with the help of a couple of lads from our Kop 🤣🤣🤣, I finally managed to get the shirt back where it belonged—its rightful home at Elland Road.
Hopefully it’s now locked away safely where it should stay.

Remember this: Exactly 12years ago:
In June 2014, Dave Hockaday was controversially appointed head coach of Leeds United by owner Massimo Cellino. The appointment surprised much of English football, and his short spell was marked by an unsettled transfer policy and significant supporter dissatisfaction. Hockaday’s tenure lasted only 70 days and encompassed six competitive matches before he was dismissed on 28 August 2014.
His six competitive games in charge were.

Signed at a dinner at Elland Road, it brings back wonderful memories of an evening in the company of two heroes of England’s 1966 World Cup-winning team.”

A little glimpse into the indoor training area at Thorp Arch Training Ground is a reminder of just how advanced the facility was when
“The Barn” opened in 2002.
At the time, the club invested around £5 million into creating what was widely regarded as a state-of-the-art academy and training complex. The indoor hall featured a heated artificial-turf pitch, allowing year-round training regardless of Yorkshire weather, alongside facilities that were uncommon in English football academies at the time, including a swimming pool, hydrotherapy area, gym, rehabilitation rooms, sports science testing areas and dedicated physiotherapy suites.

Automatic promotion secured back to the Championship after a dramatic 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers at Elland Road.
One of the most emotional days in our history and the end of three long years in League One.
What a squad. What a day. Memories that will stay forever.

76 yrs ago, March 1950, the lads were heading to London to face the Gunners in the FA Cup quarter-final, part of the FA Cup – already one of the biggest fixtures in the English football calendar. The detail about 150 coaches leaving Leeds is especially striking. In an era before mass car ownership and modern transport infrastructure, that kind of turnout says a lot: It was one of the largest organised supporter movements of its time. Fans relied heavily on chartered coaches and trains to travel long distances. It highlights how deeply connected the club was to its community – entire groups making the journey together. To put it in perspective, this was well before the days of motorways and high-speed rail. A trip from Leeds to London in 1950 would have been a long, all-day journey, yet thousands still made it — a testament to the passion surrounding the cup. Matches like this helped cement the FA Cup’s reputation as the people’s competition, where big away followings and unforgettable days out became part of football culture.

Archives: Thursday 28 February 2002: In the UEFA Cup fourth-round second leg, we faced PSV Eindhoven at Elland Road. After earning a 0-0 draw in Holland the week before, a late goal on the night saw us lose 1-0 on aggregate and exit the competition at the last-16 stage (heartbroken). At the time, part of my role at the club was to look after visiting teams from arrival through to departure. During those years, I began collecting signed shirts for the club’s historical archive. We would present our guests with a signed Leeds shirt and receive one in return. That initiative helped build a remarkable collection of shirts, alongside trophies, memorabilia, artefacts and photographs that tell the story of our club. Sadly, much of this history is currently stored away rather than displayed. These items deserve to be seen – particularly by younger supporters — so they can better understand and appreciate the heritage of Leeds United, don’t you think ????
We need and deserve a museum. MOT.

Archives – 2011 These really were great evenings at Leeds United. Free entry for the fans to come along, meet the players, and finally ask the questions they’d always wanted answers to. Sitting proudly at the head of the top table was my great late mate, Peter Lorimer — a true club legend — and of course we were in the fans’ favourite spot, Lorimer’s Bar. They were held every month, with different squad members each time, and I had the privilege of hosting the nights myself.
Great times, at a great club. I hope all’s good lads.

Raphinha gave this to me as a keepsake. I forgot to ask him to autograph it at the time, but if the invite’s still open, Rapha, it sounds like a perfect excuse for a trip to Camp Nou. FC Barcelona are certainly missing him right now.

2008/9, wow a while ago this. I did quiet a bit of background work on this, for the Elland Road filming.
Home Farm.
This is a fabulous read, if you can get your hands on a copy, about the origins and life of Home Farm Football Club.
Home Farm provided Leeds United with numerous players over the years. The likes of Gary Kelly, Ian Harte, Stephen McPhail, Alan Marbury and Nicky Byrne, of Westlife fame.

I can’t believe this was 7 years ago. I didn’t want to be on this picture but Saleem said Marcelo had requested me.I’m glad I did though now.

These players used to read all their mail and then where appropriate, we would reply to the letters.
We had our first trip to Leeds with children back in 2007. Our son Andreas have problems with flying so our trip was by car from Andebu in Norway. The trip took one week including ferry from Stavanger to Newcastle and back. Svend Anders Karlsen-Moum in LUSCOS helped us with tickets and put us in contact with Stix.
On matchday Stix gave us fantastic support so Andreas was able to see the players warm up from outside the tunnel at Elland Road.
Stix also invited us to Thorp Arch on Monday October 8th who was Andreas 15 birthday.
What a way to celebrate his 15th birthday. After a guided tour inside Thorp Arce and watching the team train for one hour, Gus Poyet get the whole team around us and Stix took a great photo of us at the training Ground.
After this we was heading for the car when Stix asked us “are you not hungry?” please join me and the team for lunch.
We could not believe what was happening. Having great food with your idols in the lunchroom at Thorp Arch was nearly too much for a Norwegian Leeds heart. Queuing up for lunch with Tresor Kandol in front of me and Jermaine Beckford pushing me in the back to get to the food faster.
Even now after all these years it`s hard to believe what we have experienced actual are true.
Thank you, Stix, for everything you do for the club and Leeds fans all over the globe. You are a real Gentleman and a friend.

Racking my grey matter. I remember as a young boy working alongside the clubs ground staff. The word was going round the lads that Mr Taylor (team manager) had left the club and that this young man aged 33, was to become the new player/manager. Don Revie hadn’t been with the club long, arriving from Sunderland in late 59. We obviously didn’t know at the time but it came out later that DR’s wage was to be £20 per week, how times change.
