I will always remember the first time I came across Stix. I was still serving in West Yorkshire Police and due to my other career on the Premier League the Force were doing a charity calendar for Help For Heroes. Leeds United kindly allowed the use of Elland Road for the photo shoot.

Stix was brilliant for the charity, he made everyone feel welcome at the stadium and nothing was too much trouble.

Stix- thank you for your help and support over the years, always there on a matchday when I’ve attended games with the same passion and enthusiasm.

I know from speaking to my colleagues how helpful you have been and that’s something we will always be grateful for as a group.

Best wishes

As a lifelong Leeds United fan and someone who has been very close to the club, I want to express my deep admiration and respect for Stix.

I have heard many random stories of his kindness, helpfulness and making a profound positive difference to peoples’ lives, often by going out of his way to help them.

The players naturally loved him, quite rightly so, because they see someone who they can trust, who loves the club and who will never let them or the club down.

I think Stix is unique in football. He has earned the respect of players, managers, coaches…everyone from all levels of football. As far as I am concerned, he is a diamond with so very many positive values and a tremendous work ethic.

People like Stix should be revered and celebrated by the club.

I am ashamed of Leeds United in their treatment of him. Disgraceful and disrespectful.

I wish Stix and his family only good things.

Respect to man of utmost integrity.

Good Luck

Aidan.

What a man Stix.

Helping me and my family since day one and always being kind. His passion and his big heart showed us how to be part of Leeds United. I only have great memories of him.

You are Leeds Stix.

A Leeds Legend

With you

On signing from Preston North End, Stix Lockwood was one of the first people to greet me at Thorpe Arch. I was new to the group, but so we’re many others. A lot of work to be done on and off the pitch. Step forward Stix. I was fortunate then to get to know the great man, who wouldn’t or couldn’t do enough for me and the others in helping to settle into a new environment. He loved this great club and always reminded me of my responsibility when pulling on the famous white shirt. With many famous stories of yesteryear and as the song goes ups and downs along the way, 1 person always stood prouder than anyone.

Stix Lockwood !!!

A man who cared not only for the club but me the individual.

From the shirt and ball signings for charity, to the hospital visits at Leeds general this was all done by Stix. For special pre-arranged visits for special or sick children and their families, to the Christmas visits with sacksful of presents and Leeds merchandise, we all knew that Stix had this all sorted. It was incredible to see the smiles and humour with so many who had so many problems of their own during these visits.

Leading into match days is stressful enough as a player. Mind focused and ready to perform. I had a few daunting days before games as normally I needed so many tickets. Wife, kids and family. Then there were friends last minute. Mind telling you best to ring Stix. Message Stix. He will sort he always does. And sure, enough what always happened he did he sorted it.

I’ve been back to Elland Road a few times since my retirement. And as always, the go to person was Stix. And on my return, it was almost as if I hadn’t been away. Greeted with a charismatic, genuine love and a hug. A true gentleman.

Players like me come and go at football clubs. I loved my time at Leeds United and my time there was greatly enhanced with the relationship we all had with Stix.

There’s a saying in life – he’s 1 in a million. He’s not that. He’s 1 in 10 million!

I wish him and his family nothing but enjoyment and happiness whatever he does going forward in life.

Take care my friend.

When I think about Leeds it’s impossible not to think about Stix! His ora, his honesty, his bad but always funny jokes, his want to help and care for my family and I……not to forget his iconic hair!

You could never be / feel down around Stix because he would pick you up and make you feel better with a one liner and also had my best interest at heart.

True Leeds Legend.

The role that Stix delivered at Leeds United is absolutely vital for the comfort, wellbeing and performance of the players.

He allowed us to focus and prepare to play at our highest level by being there for us in every way.

His passion and love for the club is unrivalled and it is people like him who make a team like Leeds, very, very special.

Stix was a very good friend of my fathers.

For many many, years they travelled the country together to both away matches and charity events.

When my dad became an ambassador for the club, we were in the premiership unfortunately that did not last long and for too many years to remember, we fell on hard times, but dad and Stix stayed loyal and served the club they both loved.

As time passed Marcelo Bielsa brought a new hope and gained promotion back to the big-time dad didn’t really get to see that sadly, I wish he had.

I am sure they both would still be up and down the M1 together.

Stix got me this amazing shirt, as you can see fully signed by the team of 2021, only one man could do that.

Cheers my friend, Stix.

When I arrived at Leeds from Portsmouth the first person, I met was Stix. I could tell straight away what a real genuine person he was and that he loved Leeds United.

During my time at Leeds, he was the go-to person at the club. If anything needed to get done, if a player needed help with anything. Stix would always be there to help or give guidance.

For me, he is the heart of the club.

Every match day he would help with the players’ families, and for me this was huge as my wife had never lived up north and he made her feel very welcome.

Not only was he a good man, he had a sense of humour, he was caring, but he also told the truth. He cared.

I truly believe every club needs someone like Stix.

Wish him and his family all the very best.

Thank you

There is only one word to some up Stix and that is Legend.

I signed for Leeds from Crewe when I was 23. I’d only ever played for Crewe up until that point so for me I really was out of my comfort zone. Stix was one of the main people to really go out of his way to make me feel welcome. From booking hotels, helping me find somewhere to live and basically just being on the end of the phone 24/7 to make sure everything was ok. I also remember him being one of the first people to help me realise what it meant to play for Leeds United! He talked with such passion, honesty and love about the club! It was not just his job it was his life & I could tell that straight away.

He was often bombarded (usually by me!) the day before & on match day for tickets and hospitality for players & their families, he would be rushing round like a lunatic to make sure everybody got what they were asking for so that all the players felt no pressure and could just concentrate on the game. I can talk from personal experience that he also took the time to make sure all players families had the best experience on match day usually starting with a smile and a big hug! Leeds United is an amazing club and played a massive part in my life, so I know how lucky Stix has been to be a part of that club for so long but on the same hand Leeds United have been just as fortunate to have him too!

Whenever I think of Leeds, Stix is one of the next things that comes into my head. He is Leeds United. He was the heart and sole of the place! On a daily basis he would be at the training ground interacting with players and staff and everybody loved him! He would make everybody laugh without fail, or that could of just been the daft ties he used to wear!!

So to sum everything up that I’ve said about Stix the only thing Left to say is he 1 million percent was a massive part of my Leeds Utd experience and Im happy to say I gained a friend for life.

I wish him and his family all the very best.

Thanks for everything Stix

Luke Murphy.

Stix is one of the main reasons why so many players settle at Leeds

United so quickly.

Always there to help and would go above and beyond his role to help anyone with anything.

When I speak to any family members or friends about my time at Leeds United, they always ask if Stix still works there, shows the man he is. Been there through all the ups and downs. An absolute icon of this great football club.

Nothing but love from me to my friend and his family. And thanks for everything you have done for me personally.

Extremely grateful.

There are not many backroom staff who work within a football club that you can call a true legend.

I have first-hand experience of dealing with such a person, Stix.
over the years we have connected on many occasions usually him wanting something for one of the players or their families. Or his involvement in my charity Cash For Kids, of which I am a patron.

Despite the fact Stix has asked me for assistance on many occasions this was never for himself it was for player’s families and staff from the club. His acts of kindness shows just how selfless he is, always helping others.

I used to wonder if there were more clones of Stix because whenever I was involved doing something with Leeds United such as creating the infamous Calendar, bringing Vern Troyer to watch his first Mighty Whites game, introducing Russell Crowe to owners of the club. I would always see him somewhere in the background doing something for the club. I don’t know where he found the time or energy, he always seems composed and in control even when dealing with high pressured situations. I have my own stories of this for another time. Lol.

When you hear the phrase, somebody sleeps and breaths their job that’s Stix. Leeds United is his life. He’s always been the go-to guy for LUFC, ever since I have known him over 22 years.

As a successful Leeds business owner, myself of, Fibre, Mission, Viaduct Showbar, The Bells, Briggate Hotel etc. We always strive to have our own version of Stix. He is an Asset for Leeds United.

I’ve never called on him for any favours but the offers of help from Stix were always there and the reassurance of knowing if I needed anything from a signed shirt for my charity to waking up the chairman Stix would’ve helped.

To me, Stix is a true ambassador for our beloved football club, Leeds United. he has seen many administrations come and go, his loyalties have always been with the club, players and supporters. Long may Stix and LUFC keep marching on together.

Keep smiling

‘Stix was hugely helpful when I was writing the biography of Don Revie. Nothing was ever too much trouble, even when I was asking questions, he has probably had answered a thousands of times before!

‘He is a mine of information and the memory of the interview he arranged for me with the late, great Norman Hunter will stay with me for a long time.

‘Stix is one of the kindest most genuine men I have met in football! To me, he is a Leeds United legend who has been pivotal in making the club what it is today.’

Best wishes

Mr Leeds United.

Wandering around the ground pre match you could always rely on Stix being there with a friendly welcome and great stories about Leeds United past and present.

One of the certainties through ups and downs, good times or bad, Stix will always be around, willing and able to help with problems big and small.

Thanks for all the help over the years.

Growing up in a football family we all had a heart for Leeds United.

I was lucky enough to one day play for the great club. I knew a lot about the club when I signed, but I didn’t know it from the inside.

This was when Stix Lockwood was such a great help to me. He helped me with everything I needed to settle in, but most of all he made me feel welcome at the club! He was always there with a positive comment and a word of encouragement no matter the result from matches.

Stix also made sure my family and friends were looked after and helped us with tickets etc so that we could concentrate on the football. Even after I finished at the club Stix is someone, I would contact to sort out things, from getting shirts to tickets, or just to get an update on how the team is doing.

He has always been willing to help and make others happy. When I think of Leeds United, Stix is one of the first people who comes to mind.

A genuine nice person who spreads positive vibes around him.

My mood always rises to the better when I see him or speak with him.

I wish him all the best in life!

When I 1st signed for Leeds Stix made me and my family feel so welcome.

As a new player to a new club and area there is a bit of time to settle in, but Stix was a massive help he couldn’t do any more for you.

He was loved by the players with his good humour and rubbish jokes.

Never forget when I was injured for a long period Stix would always check in to make sure I was ok, he didn’t have to, but he cared for the players.

Always a legend

Best wishes

One constant from my time at Leeds United was your cool calm presence Stix.

Stix you were everything to the lads, a father figure and confidant who would also have to get down in the trenches when the lads wanted to take the Mickey out of you, but you never came up short. When I think about you, I can’t see you without your blue jacket, proud man, it was like a suit of armour with the badge on. If the club was in battle, then you are the kind of guy who would sign up first.

Football clubs need people like you because when everyone is getting carried away you know that someone still has to lock up and turn the lights on and off.

Thanks for your friendship.

Stix or should I say Mr. Leeds United !!!

Within today modem game unassuming legends like Stix are unfortunately becoming more of a rarity.

For me he is an integral cog sat at the heart of a truly wonderful club and city.

He has been part of the furniture, weathering the storms through good times and bad, providing the stable rock upon where the foundations of Leeds united have been rebuilt.

During my time at the Leeds, he was much loved by the players and staff alike and I’m proud to have had the opportunity to work alongside him.

Happy to call him my friend.

“Firstly, there are no words that I know of that can do justice to the wonderful man that is Peter “Stix” Lockwood …… but I’ll try

I’ve been lucky enough to know Stix for a good few years now – I remember when I first met him pitch side at Elland Road and instantly took a liking to his wonderful warm character. Knowing how much Leeds United meant to me and my family he arranged it for us to meet some of the team and Bielsa- he really does make people’s dreams come true.  I had the pleasure of visiting him at his home recently and it was lovely to meet his family. He is a true family man, and it shows in his work and in his personal life.

The Punjabi Whites would not exist without Stix – it was Stix who pushed me into the limelight and allowed me and my family to do things I never thought possible, it not only benefitted me but also a whole community.

I’m forever grateful for Stix and absolutely honoured to call him and his family our friends.

Saying, thank you seems for easy for everything you’ve done and continue to do

Love you now and always

Even though I’m currently working at the national shrine of Our Lady in Walsingham, Norfolk, and nearer Carrow Road than Elland Road, I still keenly follow Leeds United’s results!  Whilst we’re all glad that Leeds is back in the division where it belongs, it wasn’t always so!  About 6 years ago, when I was dean of Leeds Cathedral, I remember

Stix contacting me on behalf of the then owner, Massimo Cellino, asking me to bless the pitch.  I met Stix on the ‘sacred turf’ one quiet day, and blessed the pitch, and also prayed for the players and staff.

They took a photo of the occasion ‘just for their records’.

The next I knew it was on Sky Sports!  I did this two years running, and on the second occasion blessed the training ground and facilities at Thorp Arch, too.  Now although Leeds didn’t reach the dizzy heights of the Premiership straight away, I like to think that their eventual rise was helped along.  In any case, the matches I attended soon after each blessing resulted in wins for Leeds!

Stix, you’ve done a great job at Elland Road, you’ve been a friend to many, and you can justly be proud of the promotion that rightly came Leeds’ way.  Many happy returns!  I hope you have a great celebration.

Sincerely

Stix was one of the most important people in the club for me.

A man with a big heart, who always tried to help others and was always there when you needed him.

Stix is part of the very fabric of Leeds United Football Club.

He Embodied all the qualities that my dad felt were so important in building a great club -family, being genuine and of course a love of and loyalty of LUFC.

Whether looking after the players and their families to being the bridge between the club and the supporters and of course his wonderful charity work.

Stix is an invaluable part of Leeds United and a great ambassador for the club.

When i visited Leeds for The Freedom of the City event honouring the great teams of the 60″s and 70″s, Stix arranged everything for our visit and made sure we were looked after.

He is a kind caring man who lives and breathes LUFC and has a rare ability of making everyone feel cared for and that they matter,

I know Dad would be wishing all the best to you Stix and thank you for everything you have done over the years for so many people and of course for the club.

All the best to you and your family.

To the legend that is Stix, the heartbeat of Leeds United always smiling win lose or draw could always rely on

him to put things into perspective.

Brutally honest but from the heart missed him ever since I left that great club.

Thank you for everything my mate even in tough times you got me through.

Hope we cross paths sooner rather than later pal.

The Leeds United Crest “Comes Home”

I have attended Leeds United Football games for more than 70 years and with my wife Denise, we have travelled from San Francisco for more than 50 years to watch both home and away games.

For more than 35 years we have known and have become friends with Stix Lockwood as undoubtedly, he alone is the glue that works behind the scenes with Boards, Players and the life of the Club, the Fans.

More than 20 years ago Stix alone was responsible in ensuring that the 1919 Leeds United Crest and the blue inscription affixed on The John Charles Stand came to fruition.

The Inscription States.

“The 1919 Leeds United Emblem was obtained by the Harland Family through a Donation to The MacMillan Cancer Trust”.

The unveiling of the Emblem took place on September 12, 2002, a special day for all Leeds Fans in that the White Rose of Yorkshire defeated the Red Rose of Lancashire courtesy of a goal scored by Harry Kewell against Manchester United.

Stix is The Wikipedia of Leeds United Football Club and I sincerely doubt that any other person will ever match his accomplishments.

We look forward to seeing Stix for many more years when we visit Elland Road.

Cheers, Mike and Denise

What can I say?

One morning I opened a handwritten envelope with utter shock and amazement.

A letter of thanks for ‘Loyalty & Dedication. to Leeds United Football Club… & signed by MARCELO BIELSA !

Immediately I suspected it was a complete fake set-up by friends.

It was not until I saw Stix’ personal card and note to email him confirmation of safe receipt that I figured it was actually genuine.

At that point and with all that Covid had thrown at us, I was completely and emotionally stopped in my tracks for about half an hour.

But who? Why? What for? Why me?

Apparently, it was some overheard off-the-cuff comment I made on TV about Elland Road that pricked Stix’ ears and then the main man checked out my LUFC credentials.

You would not believe how incredibly proud and chuffed I am to have received that letter.

Thank you, it meant so, so much.
